What We Are Looking Forward To at the Craft Brewers Conference
The Craft Brewers Conference, the annual gathering of brewery owners and professionals, will be kicking off on April 8. This is the second year Lance CPA Group will be attending CBC and as we plan out our week, here are some of the things we are really looking forward to at the Craft Brewers Conference!
The Craft Brewers Conference always has a large variety of great sessions. There are a few in particular that we are looking forward to attending.
Girl-Bosses, Business, and Beer
This session is led by Kim Jordan of New Belgium Brewery and Sarah Frey of Frey Farms. It’s about their journey in entrepreneurship and the headwinds they faced as females in their industries that were mostly male.
Should You Stay or Should You Go
In this session the team from PINTS LLC and Rob Tod, the founder of Allagash Brewing Company, will be discussing entering new markets through distribution and the factors to consider in making a successful launch in a new market and territory.
Mental Health in the Craft Beer Industry
Mental health is a big issue in any industry and the craft beer industry is no exception, particularly where alcohol is easily accessible. We know the good work that organizations like Hope for the Day do in this area and are excited to hear more about this topic at CBC.
From Sneaker Shops to Yarn Swaps: Making Community Partnerships to Cultivate Diversity
I am particularly excited for this session where a panel of experts like Dr. J. Nikol Jackson-Beckham, the BA’s Diversity Ambassador, and Toni Boyce from Beer Kulture will be discussing bringing diversity and inclusion to breweries and how to foster a diverse community at your brewery.
While there is a lot of fun things planned during the conference, there are also a lot of events outside the conference hours for networking. Here are a couple of events we are looking forward to.
Wednesday Hangover Breakfast
Ok, so a little self promotion here. Lance CPA Group is hosting the Wednesday Hangover Breakfast at 8am at Backstage Coffee across the street from the convention center. This is a time to grab a hot breakfast, a hangover kit, and network with fellow brewers and industry professionals. There will be some great No Beer No Work swag as well!
Some of the best events outside of the conference are the guild meetups. We will be attending the Illinois Craft Brewers Guild meetup on Tuesday and the Iowa Craft Brewers Guild meetup on Wednesday. These events are nice to network with each other and catch up with everyone.
Barrel Aged Stout and Selling Out Book Discussion
Josh Noel, author of Barrel Aged Stout and Selling Out, will be giving a book talk on Wednesday at Falling Rock Tap House. This is a fantastic book about Goose Island and the AB-InBev takeover that is a must read for anyone in the industry. In addition, there will be lots of barrel aged beer on tap at Falling Rock Tap House.
If you are going to be at the conference, let us know so we can meet up and enjoy a beer together!
